According to these principles, the German people (Volk) belonged to the superior \u2018Aryan race\u2019 which had to be kept \u2018pure\u2019.  The pseudo-scientific concept of \u2018racial hygiene\u2019 was applied for this purpose. Although the National Socialists had not devised the concept, they implemented it with methods that resulted in murder.
