Art and destinies. A new audio tour in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich
The web app „Alte Pinakothek Unframed“ has another facet - on a topic that is not normally at the centre of a museum visit: provenance research. It is about researching the history and origin of a work of art. Who owned it? Where was it kept? And how did it end up in the Alte Pinakothek?
These questions often bring to light exciting individual stories that lead back to the past - including the National Socialist era.
Four such stories are now available as an audio tour in the Pocket Guide. Some are also part of the project „Art, theft and restitution - forgotten life stories“.
